Research has shown that the effectiveness of homework varies based on grade level. In the primary level (K-5), it has demonstrated minimal effect as students are often completing unrelated projects rather than reinforcing their learning or practicing skills they have not yet mastered.
Midas Creek Elementary is a "No homework" school. What does that mean? "No homework" does not mean no reading. We want our students to be lifelong learners and readers. We expect our students to read 20-30 minutes each night with a "just right" book of their choice to encourage a love of reading.
"No homework" means our educators will not send homework packets or "drill" worksheets home to be completed. We value your family time and encourage our students to continue learning and exploration in meaningful and learner-driven ways at home.
